Wonkor was founded by two bass enthusiasts from China, Wong and Kor, who are also the origin of the brand name.
China has a history of craftworks that are long-standing, including carpentry, porcelain, and paper-making. Our vision for Wonkor is drawn from enduring Chinese craftsmanship. We aim to persist in making great works of art just like our ancestors.
Wong is a bassist with a career of more than 20 years. Wong is also a basses collector, who owns almost all the basses from well-known brands. The basses have inspired a lot of early research and development of Wonkor. We have done a lot of tests in different environments, hoping to find a perfect blend with music in recordings without losing dynamics, and in live performances remaining clarity. The balance between the two has always been a problem, and we hope to be the problem solver. (Go check out all the sound samples recorded by Wong on major platforms.)
Kor is a guitar collector. Kor’s career started with the production and restoration of wooden furniture, and he is particularly skilled in paint-jobs. Before Wonkor, Kor had been engaged in guitar/bass maintenance and was the designated technician of many high-end brands in China.
